Mobile Machine Market

Modern electronic devices are increasingly mobile devices or machines. Phones, computers, smart devices, eReaders and even power tools are now driven by mobile capabilities. These mobile machines require millions of batteries – both rechargeable and disposable – that provide the needed power to let us make a call or listen to music without the inconvenience of being "plugged in".

Market Need

As mobile machines gain in popularity and market penetration the power needs have steadily risen. Increases in power consumption are driven by the ever increasing demands of computing power and a desire by consumers for a mobile device that performs all the same functions as a plugged-in device. Importantly, more battery power requires more weight and space which is at a premium in hand-held smartphones, eReaders, etc. And battery power is very expensive.

A typical mobile Smartphone can deliver less than five hours of talk time before needing a recharge. Increased battery capacity is inhibited by market forces seeking ever thinner, smaller and lighter devices, coupled with increasing demands for processing power, placing internal device real estate at a premium.
