FlexPower™

Flexible solar cells and solar fabric are of interest for mobile, communications, fashion and military applications where eliminating the heavy, rigid and typically fragile supporting substrates of traditional solar technologies is highly desired. 

One exciting capability of GPEC's SM-OPV™ is the ability to create high-performance and flexible organic solar cells, a capability we call FlexPower™. GPEC's SM-OPV™ FlexPower™ technology can be applied to plastic substrates or even flexible thread-like fibers enabling the formation of fabric woven from power generating threads. GPEC's SM-OPV™ FlexPower™ technology has the potential to deliver higher specific power levels – or power per unit of weight – than traditional PV technologies.
